Beth Anne of the House Campbell

First of Her Name, The Grit Whisperer, Queen of Bacon, Supreme Goddess of Getting Sh*t Done, Khaleesi of the Great Corporate Sea, Giver of No F*cks, Princess of Pork, Breaker of Silence, and Mother of Hats

I am an author, blogger, and podcaster who worked in the corporate world for over two decades. Born and raised in the great state of Michigan, I am currently living in Virginia with my awesome husband, Sean and our silver Labrador retriever Moxie. While I will always be a mitten girl at heart, I love living in Virginia.

I would describe myself as “slightly rebellious, harmlessly sarcastic, and passionate about good leadership” and I have been known to drop an f-bomb or two (or thirty). I am also a lover of jigsaw puzzles and hats.

In my spare time, I can usually be found working on my next blog or book or spending time with my extended family of five siblings and 15 nieces and nephews.

The 3.5 Distinct Personalities of Beth Anne Campbell

I often think of myself as The Chief Executive of Getting Sh*t-Done. To be successful in this role, one must embody multiple personalities. I have 3.5, to be exact.

Beth Anne

FIRST there is Beth (also known as Beth Anne). Beth is the master of making things happen. She multitasks, insomuch as anyone can actually multitask given that multitasking is a big fat myth. Yet somehow she manages an onslaught of projects to deliver, people to manage, crises to avert, books to write and promote, and approximately 1432 other tasks to complete…all the while still maintaining a high degree of sanity, productivity, and results. Beth is transparent, reliable, and confident. She is the Princess of Power of getting things done (and done well), and is the six-pack abs of the overall Beth Anne Campbell persona. It is important to note that Beth loves bacon.

Beulah

SECOND, there’s Beulah (though she would argue strongly that she is always numero uno).  Sometimes the well-balanced abilities of Beth just aren’t enough. Once in a blue moon, on occasion, only when it is absolutely necessary, Beulah will make an appearance. Beulah is never (okay, rarely) unprofessional, but when she emerges, people who have not experienced this side of the Beth Campbell trio+ may be taken by surprise. Those who have not yet evolved may mentally utter words like “bossy” or “pushy” or “aggressive.” Those who are firmly rooted in the modern era may think “Boom!” or “Yesss!” or “I’m glad someone said that out loud!” They may even directly request Beulah when there is a situation where her strong leadership is warranted. Beulah not only loves bacon…she invented bacon out of thin air.

Beverly

Ah, Beverly. Beverly is a grandmotherly type who is compassionate, nurturing, and will walk a mile or ten in your shoes to understand what’s going on. She is the benefit of the doubt giver. The work-life balance champion. The taker of one for the team. She won’t run around chasing you with a yardstick like Grandma Dorothy did back in the day but she will give you fair and honest (but gentle) feedback. Beverly has been known to bake up a mean sweet potato pie on occasion, for no other reason than to boost morale and make people smile. She also loves bacon, fried up with a side of buttermilk pancakes.

Bennie

And finally, there’s Bennie. She is the unicorn of the Beth Campbell package, glimpsed only on very, very rare occasions. She is barely half a personality, or maybe all of them. Bennie will show herself briefly if someone yells “30-SECOND DANCE PARTY!!!” during a stressful meeting, especially if they play an awesome dance tune such as Uptown Funk, I’m a Believer (the Smash Mouth version, of course), or anything by KC and the Sunshine Band. Bennie has allegedly been heard singing on conference calls, when she thinks no one has joined yet…perhaps a little David Bowie Space Oddity or the soundtrack from The Greatest Showman (it’s never enough). Bennie is the essence of bacon: real yet unexplainable. While entertaining at times, she provides little value to most work situations.
